    How to use it

    1. 1Download the template (or open it in Google Sheets via File → Import).
    2. 2Choose 8–12 envelopes and set a monthly allocation for each based on recent spending.
    3. 3At the start of the month, 'stuff' each envelope with its allocation on the dashboard.
    4. 4Log every purchase to an envelope; when one hits $0, stop spending in that category (or record a transfer).

    Skip the manual data entry

ReceiptSync scans your receipts and pushes the data straight into a spreadsheet like this — no typing. Snap a photo and it's logged and categorized.

A simple spreadsheet is the most reliable way to take control of your money — you own the data, there's no subscription, and it works offline. This template is pre-built so you can start today instead of designing tabs and formulas from scratch. Frequently asked questions

What if I spend more than my envelope allows?

You have two options: stop spending in that category for the rest of the month, or make a conscious transfer from another envelope. If you're always raiding the same envelope to cover another, that allocation is too low.

Can I use digital cash stuffing with a credit card?

Yes — that's an advantage over physical cash. You can pay with any method and still track it to the correct envelope. The key is logging every transaction so the envelope balances stay accurate.

How is this different from a regular budget?

A regular budget tells you at month-end whether you stayed within your limits. Digital cash stuffing shows your remaining balance in real time, which creates a stop mechanism before you overspend rather than after.

    Can I automate logging transactions?

Yes — ReceiptSync scans each receipt and lets you assign it to an envelope, then exports to your Transaction Log so the balances update without manual entry. Forgetting to log is the main reason digital cash stuffing fails.
