    Skip the manual data entry

ReceiptSync scans your receipts and pushes the data straight into a spreadsheet like this — no typing. Snap a photo and it's logged and categorized.

A simple spreadsheet is the most reliable way to take control of your money — you own the data, there's no subscription, and it works offline. This template is pre-built so you can start today instead of designing tabs and formulas from scratch. For a full walkthrough and tips, see the sinking funds guide and the sinking fund calculator.

    Frequently asked questions

How many sinking funds should I have?

Start with 5–8 and add more as you get comfortable. The most universally valuable funds are car maintenance, holiday gifts, medical, vacation, and annual subscriptions.

Should sinking funds be in a separate bank account?

It depends on your discipline. Tracking funds in a spreadsheet while keeping the money in your regular savings works fine if you won't accidentally spend it. A separate high-yield savings account creates a stronger barrier if you're prone to dipping in.

What if I can't fund all my sinking funds?

Prioritize the funds for expenses coming up soonest. If your car registration is due in three months, fund that first and build the others over time.

How do I track what I spend from each fund?

Log every sinking-fund expense in the Expense Log tab. For receipts, scan them with ReceiptSync and tag them to the right fund — the dashboard balance updates automatically.
